The Opinionaires hosted an open dialogue based on a Video posted to twitter regarding gender roles in relationships and the state of Black Love as it stands today’s society.
The members of the discussion came to the conclusion that it is unwise to create a standard set of gender roles without adjusting to the personality of the other person in the relationship. One participant stated: “The only gender role that should exist is the man reaffirming the femininity of the woman, and the woman reaffirming the masculinity of the man.”
The discussion also touched on the subject of the media and how it is our responsibility to take control of the images that are used by the media to portray the state of Black relationships. We must provided a new age rendition of Black Love that sends positive images to America, just as the Cosbys and Fresh Prince of the 1990s.
